Textiles

Textiles Program

As of 2016, the Textiles Program now includes a monthly Sewing 101 boot camp! This program also covers leather working. The textiles area has two rolling surfaces for cutting and one standing workbench for heavy work.

Supplies and machines

The textiles area is part of the classroom. It is a reconfigurable space with a variety of tables and chairs, including two large rolling cut tables and large rotary mats.  We have a large variety of fabrics and notions that are available for member use.

Training and certification

While none of the sewing machines require certification, we highly recommend that you take a class or get help with the Pfaff walking foot machine and Juki serger if you have never used these types of machines before.

Leatherworking

We have a basic complement of leather hand working tools to go along with our Pfaff walking foot heavy-duty leather sewing machine.

Silkscreening

All the basic tools for both traditional and non-traditional silkscreening are available. We often use laser-cut mylar stencils to create the resist for quick silkscreen runs.
